You can explore the quaint shops and excellent restaurants right here in Boulder Junction, or if you are looking for more outdoor fun we are on the Heart of Vilas County paved bike trails, hiking and mountain biking trails and forests to explore and hundreds of lakes to enjoy.
Paddle Sports
Whether you enjoy silent water sports, waterskiing and boating, swimming or fishing the Manitowish River and lakes surrounding Boulder Junction provide plenty of options for all water activities. Boat and Windsurf on Trout Lake. Canoe, Kayak and paddleboard down the Manitowish River, through Boulder Lake. Check out the Manitowish Chain for some excellent skiing and fishing. Biking in Vilas County
If biking is your jam, Vilas County is the place to be, for e-bikes and comfort bikes check out Heart of Vilas Bike Trail System -Boulder Junction, Sayner, St. Germain, Manitowish Waters, Mercer (biketheheart.org)
There is over 50 miles of trail! Don't have your own bike? No worries there are plenty of bike rental options. (Ask us in the tap room for recommendations).

They also have cross country ski snowshoe and fat tire trails available in the winter season.
Hiking and Exploring Nature
The Northwoods is a family destination to explore and learn to appreciate our natural surroundings. What better place to do that than the North Lakeland Discovery Center A Natural Destination for Discovery
They are located in Manitowish Waters on Statehouse Lake, with hiking trails for use in all seasons, snowshoeing and skiing options in the winter, daytime and evening programs year-round, check out the program calendar on the website or just bring the family to the Discovery Hall (seasonal hours posted on the website) and visit the live animals, climb up to the eagle nest, dive under the beaver lodge, and put your naturalist skills to the test at the discovery table! Fun for all ages!
Looking for some more challenging Hikes. In boulder Junction there are trailheads for the Lumberjack Trail and Escanaba-Pallette Lake Trails, ask your bartender for more details.
