Pankanator Dopplebock
A Dopplebock with a sweet, toasty malt profile and warming finish. It features heavy notes of dark caramel, and subtle raisin fig and plum flavors.
Our Pankanator Doppelbock is a tribute to Henry “Hanky Pank” Thoms, who came to Boulder Junction in 1935 as a tree planter. He became well-known for his handywork around town and was given the nickname “Hanky Pank”. He worked on telephone lines for the Williams family, whose store (currently Donna Mae’s Antiques) housed the area’s first telephone switchboard. He was best known for his stonemasonry, some of which still exists in town today in the walls of Coontail’s (formerly the Malone Garage) as well as the triangle wall of the Veteran’s Memorial.
The Dopplebock has a sweet, toasty malt profile and warming finish. It features heavy notes of dark caramel, and subtle raisin fig and plum flavors. Fun Fact! Doppelbock names typically end in “-ator” as a tribute to the original doppelbock, Salvator, produced by Paulaner. Competing breweries tried to copy the popular beer and name their own versions “Salvator,” causing Paulaner to trademark Salvator. In response, rival brewers adopted names ending in “-ator” to honor the original brew and be recognized as the same style.
